Today we received a parcel delivery of a Reborn baby that I'd ordered. I bought her from a trusted friend and the money was going to her daughter to help fund a new trampoline so I felt, despite it being a little extravagant, it was for a good cause! (Myself and E have wanted one for years!)
We spent the day considering names for her and E enjoyed unpacking all the baby accessories and clothes which came with her. She had a few outfit changes and was passed around all of us throughout the afternoon and evening, each enjoying a little cuddle. It has been years since we have had a real baby in the family and the dolls and buggies have been hidden away in the converted garage since we moved here three years ago! (As a lockdown treat R did hunt them out a few weeks back and the kids did spend a weekend thoroughly immersed in babies, bottles, blankies and babygrows!) It was really lovely to see E enjoying this special baby today. It was a surprise for her because I hadn't discussed it with the children at all. Reborns are so lifelike; I insisted the children find her in the box for fear F would think I'd just given birth if he walked in and found me holding her!!
After considering the name Darcy Rose for several hours, E read out some other names she found on Pinterest and I was converted to Cherry. Darcy Rose is lovely but Cherry is far better for a doll; I'd never use it for a real baby! That said, Ed Sheeran's fiance is called Cherry. I kept singing the words 'Cherry...cherry baby...' and couldn't get this out of my head which kind of sealed the deal. In actual fact, the Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons song is 'Sherry Baby' but still...
I also did some more little bits to #21 today. We went to the beach this evening which was lovely and I did Day 27 of my yoga challenge - 'Integrate'.
